Employing an apprentice

Hire an apprentice and watch them grow from raw talent into future leaders. They'll gain their qualifications on the job, day-in, day-out; until they know your business back-to-front.

  • Apprentices can also lower your recruitment costs, improve productivity and diversify your workforce.
  • It’s no surprise that the Government agrees. Right now, the Apprenticeship Levy is in place to produce an extra 3 million new apprenticeships by 2020.

Partner with escalla

Talk to us about your ideal candidate. Then, through our proven application and screening process, we’ll find fantastic young people that are the perfect fit for your business.

  • Once they’re in their role, we’ll set up their ongoing training as part of their apprenticeship framework.
  • By the time your apprentice has qualified, they’ll not only have a nationally-recognised qualification, but also a firm understanding of your products and company, and a range of practical and social competencies.

Apprenticeship levy

From April 2017, all UK employers with an annual pay bill of over £3 million will be charged a 0.5% levy (excluding a £15,000 allowance).

  • The money generated will then be placed into a dedicated training account, ready to be spent on hiring and training apprentices. The levy will change the way UK businesses pay for apprenticeships. It’s the result of the Government’s aim to create 3 million new apprentices by 2020.
  • Businesses with a pay bill lower than £3 million will be exempt from the levy and can employ an apprentice for just 10% of the training cost.

Trailblazer: New apprenticeship standard

Trailblazer is part of the new way that apprenticeships are created and run. The new initiative gives employers back the control over their training.

  • It directs learning outcomes towards the relevant skills that are needed within each sector.
  • Alongside our existing apprenticeships, escalla will also offer two new Trailblazer apprenticeships from May 2017, created as part of the new standards.
